Opening the app

Search for Post Code Countries, or open Post Codes and choose the Load Post Codes by Country action there. You get a list of 121 countries, sorted by name.

What the columns mean

1. Available Post Codes: how many the app can load for this country.
2. Coverage: how complete the list is, so full post codes or only the first part of them.
3. Data Source: where the data comes from, and therefore which credit applies to this country.
4. Post Codes in Company: how many post codes of this country are in this company right now.
5. Has Post Codes: whether post codes for this country exist in this company, no matter who put them there.
6. Last Loaded by This App: empty means the post codes present came from somewhere else.

Loading countries

Select one or more lines and choose Load Post Codes. Loading runs in the background through the job queue, so you can carry on working. A small country finishes within a minute; Great Britain, at 1,748,765 units, takes noticeably longer.

Loading replaces, it does not add

Loading first removes the post codes this company holds for that country, including ones somebody entered by hand. That is why the app asks for confirmation first and tells you how many post codes are involved. Export the Post Codes table to Excel if you want to keep your own rows.

Removing post codes

Choose Remove Post Codes to empty a country again. If there are post codes this app did not load, the app asks about those separately. It cannot put them back, because they did not come from the app.

After an app update

A new version can add countries or update counts. The country list is refreshed during the update; the Refresh Country List action does the same by hand. Post codes that are already loaded stay put until you load that country again.

Multiple companies

Post codes are stored per company. With four companies in the same environment you load a country four times and the rows exist four times. So load only the countries the company in question actually does business with.

When a load does not finish

Loading runs as a job queue entry. If a country stays empty, check in Job Queue Entries whether the entry is in Error and what the message says. The most common cause is that the job queue is not running in this company.
