AdresDirect 365: release notes

Version 2.0

In preparation: it reaches AppSource once Microsoft has validated the app.

The first version of AdresDirect 365. The app fetches Dutch addresses from the BAG of the Kadaster: type post code and house number, and street, city and province fill themselves in.

Addresses from the BAG

• Type a Dutch post code and a house number, and the app fills in Address (street and house number), City and County with the province, and writes the post code as 1234 AB.
• A post code alone gives City and County, not the street: one post code can span two streets.
• House numbers can be typed the way people do: 12, 12a, 12 A, 12-2 or 12B bis. Whatever follows the number is compared with house letter and addition together, as the BAG knows them.
• If nothing matches exactly, for example 14 where only 14A and 14B exist, the user picks the address in the Pick an Address list.
• The request goes straight from Business Central to the BAG API Individuele Bevragingen, with your own free API key from the Kadaster, and waits at most five seconds for an answer.
• Saving is never blocked. If the lookup does not succeed, the fields stay as they were and a notification says why.
• By default an address is looked up only while a user types on a card; notifications and the pick list appear only then.
• Only Dutch addresses are looked up: with the country from the setup (NL by default), or without a country in a company that is itself in that country, and with a post code like 1234 AB.

House No. on seven address cards

• A new House No. field, right after Post Code, on customers, vendors, contacts, ship-to addresses, vendor order addresses, locations and the company information.

Province

• The BAG has no provinces. The app derives the province from the first four digits of the post code, using a table of 4,086 areas built from GeoNames data (CC BY 4.0).
• Fill County with Province switches this on or off per company; it is on by default.

Post codes as a memory

• Every post code found is added to the standard Post Codes table (setting Save Post Codes, on by default). A known post code then fills in the city without a request to the BAG.
• Users without write permission on Post Codes still get the address; only the table does not grow.

Setup and permissions

• New page AdresDirect 365 Setup, also listed under Manual Setup, with API Key, Enabled, Country/Region Code, Fill County with Province, Save Post Codes and Look Up for Imports and APIs, and the actions Test Connection and Request an API Key. The latter opens the Kadaster's request form.
• Look Up for Imports and APIs (off by default) also looks up addresses that come in through code, a configuration package or import, or an API integration. Leave it off for large imports: the BAG API is not meant for bulk.
• The API key is stored encrypted per company in isolated storage and never shown again. Enabled can only be switched on with a key, and removing the key switches it off.
• Users who enter addresses need no permission set. The AdresDirect 365 permission set is for whoever maintains the setup.
• Technical telemetry without addresses: only whether a lookup filled an address, found nothing or failed, with a fixed reason, and when the setup was completed.
